Trev Alberts to become Texas A&M athletic director

Trev Alberts, a 15-year Nebraska AD and All-American football player, is Texas A&M President Mark A. Welsh III's next athletics director.

The University of Nebraska's athletic director since 2021 is former first-round NFL draft pick and ESPN announcer Alberts.

He moved to Lincoln after 12 years as AD at University of Nebraska in Omaha,

where he led a facility overhaul and turned the sports program from Division II to Division 1.

With approximately 650 student-athletes participating in 20 varsity sports in the Southeastern Conference,

Welsh said Alberts's broad expertise, excellent financial acumen,

and leadership qualities made him the perfect candidate to manage A&M Athletics.

"I can't think of a better person to lead the Aggie Athletics program into the future," Welsh continued.
