Brian Burns, a star player for the Panthers, is traded to the Giants, who offer him a huge contract.

The New York Giants are said to have made a significant splash through a trade on the opening day of NFL free agency.

 According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo on Monday, New York is getting outstanding pass rusher

Brian Burns from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a second-round pick (No. 39 overall) and a fifth-round pick (No. 141) in the draft that will take place next month.

 According to an NFL Network story, Burns is also joining the Giants to a massive five-year contract for up to $150 million, with $87.5 million guaranteed.

According to Spotrac's salary figures, Burns will become the fourth-highest-paid defensive player in the NFL with an average 

annual value of $30 million, after defensive end Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers, defensive tackle Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs, and defensive tackle Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams.

 Xavier McKinney, a former Giants safety, has signed a four-year contract with the Packers.
